Proyección Especial en el Dia Nacional de la Ballena Franca

Con el apoyo de la Municipalidad de Puerto Pirámides, Whales Argentina y Bottazzi Avistajes, el PEFF estará participando del Día Nacional de la Ballena Franca.
La proyección será llevada a cabo en el marco de este día especial, el domingo 25/09. Se proyectará la película ENTANGLED a las 19hs al aire libre con entrada libre y gratuita.
El film a sido parte de la Selección Oficial de Largometrajes en 2021 y narra los esfuerzos para proteger a las ballenas francas del Atlántico norte de la extinción, los impactos de esos esfuerzos en la industria de la langosta y cómo el Servicio Nacional de Pesca Marina ha luchado por equilibrar los intereses en pugna. Ahora se estima que hay alrededor de 350 ballenas francas, lo que las convierte en una de las especies más amenazadas del planeta. La principal amenaza para su supervivencia, dicen los científicos: millones de líneas de langosta que se extienden desde Nueva Inglaterra hasta el Atlántico canadiense, equipo estándar para la pesquería más valiosa de América del Norte. Esa amenaza se ve agravada por el cambio climático, que ha provocado un colapso en el suministro de alimentos de las ballenas en las cálidas aguas del Golfo de Maine, lo que las ha obligado a buscar comida en áreas donde rara vez se las había visto antes. Como resultado, su población se ha desplomado. En los últimos años, las muertes de ballenas francas se han disparado mientras que los nacimientos han disminuido drásticamente.
